The Honourable Gary Lunn
Minister of State for Sport
Saanich-Gulf Islands (British Columbia)

First elected to the House of Commons in 1997, Gary Lunn was re-elected in 2000, 2004, 2006, and 2008. After serving as Minister of Natural Resources from February 2006 to October 2008, he was appointed Minister Responsible for Sport and the 2010 Vancouver-Whistler Olympics and Paralympics on October 30, 2008.

Minister Lunn is a strong advocate for amateur sport in Canada, and is a former member of the Canadian Ski Patrol.  He welcomes the challenge of being Minister of State for Sport as Canada prepares to welcome the world at the Vancouver Winter Olympics and Paralympics in 2010.

Prior to entering federal politics, Minister Lunn practiced law in Victoria and is a member of the British Columbia Law Society.  He has previously worked in the mining and forestry industries of British Columbia and northern Canada. He is a certified carpenter, and has taught first aid for St. John’s Ambulance.

Gary resides in North Saanich with his wife, Alexis and their two children, David and Victoria.
